Marsala from Mazara del Vallo
Marsala is one of the easiest days out to arrange from Mazara. There is no need to leave early: on the Stagnone the best hour comes in the afternoon.
The Salt Museum
If you want to understand what you are looking at, add the Salt Museum. It covers traditional salt-making and the relationship between the pans and the land around them.
A ride around the Stagnone
The Stagnone also suits half a day on a bicycle. It is a simple way to see the lagoon without arranging an excursion.
There are boat trips and other organised activities in the area too.
A drink at sunset
It is worth waiting for the evening here.
The pans and the lagoon are at their best as the sun drops. You can stop for a drink, or simply find a quiet spot and wait.
How much time to allow
For the pans, the Stagnone and the sunset, an afternoon is enough.
If you want to add the centre of Marsala, a longer visit or other activities, leave earlier and allow the whole day.
