Everything you need to know before booking
Yes, and it works out better for you. Booking direct gets our best available rate with no commission on top, a welcome kit when you arrive, and one of us answering you rather than a platform inbox. Send us your dates on WhatsApp and we will come back with a price.
From €140 a night, depending on the season, the apartment and how long you stay. Summer — July and August above all — is our busiest period. There is no rate table because the honest answer depends on your dates: tell us and we will quote you.
Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer. Everything is handled securely, and we will tell you exactly what is due and when before you commit to anything.
Yes, €100, and it is refundable. We take it on arrival and give it back at check-out. In practice we have almost never had to touch it.
Breakfast is not included, but you do not have to make it yourself unless you want to. We offer an optional €5 breakfast voucher you can use at nearby partner bars: 3.Zero, a well-stocked bar-gelateria right on the corner, about ten metres from the door, and Bar Mucho Gusto on the seafront, a three-minute walk away. Many guests pick up breakfast there and bring it up to the shared roof terrace in the cool morning hours, or take their time over it in the apartment — every apartment has its own kitchen and coffee machine. Just ask us on WhatsApp and we will sort the voucher out.
For direct bookings, free cancellation up to 7 days before you arrive. In peak season and over public holidays the terms can differ, so ask us about your dates and we will confirm in writing. If you need to shift your stay rather than cancel it, just say — we would rather move you than lose you.
We are at Via IV Aprile 30, on the seafront in Mazara del Vallo. Parts of the historic centre are restricted to traffic, so we send precise driving directions before you arrive rather than letting your satnav guess.
Trapani is the closest, around 30 to 40 minutes by car depending on traffic. Palermo has more routes and is the usual choice for international flights, though the drive is longer. Tell us where you are flying from and we will tell you which makes more sense.
Yes, with local drivers we have used for years. Send us your flight number and landing time and we will have someone waiting.
Check-in is from 15:00, check-out by 10:30. Arrival is self check-in, so you are never tied to reception hours — we send the instructions on WhatsApp beforehand, we are a message away throughout your stay, and we come and say hello in person whenever we can.
That is fine. Because check-in is self-service there is no desk closing at a set hour — arrive at eleven at night if that is when you get here. Just let us know roughly when to expect you.
Nothing changes at our end. Message us on WhatsApp when you know your new time and the apartment will be ready whenever you arrive.
No. Although Sunset Terrace is on the seafront, no apartment has a direct sea view. Three face the inner courtyard, which is why they are so still at night; apartment A faces the side street, with a building opposite. The sea view is from the shared roof terrace, which every guest can use freely. Apartment D also has its own private terrace, with a gate straight onto the panoramic terrace.
It depends on the apartment, and the difference matters. A has a real private balcony you can sit on: it is the only one. It faces the side street rather than the courtyard, with a building opposite. B and C share an internal service balcony: fine for drying and fresh air, not for dining. D has a private terrace, with a table and loungers. The place to sit outside, though, is the roof terrace: that is where the loungers, umbrellas, barbecue and sea view are, and every guest uses it freely.
Yes. Every apartment has its own kitchen — there is no shared kitchen and no fixed breakfast sitting. You eat what you want, when you want.
Hob, oven or microwave, fridge, kettle, and a full set of pans, crockery and cutlery. Plenty of guests buy fish at the market in the morning and cook it that evening, which is rather the point of having your own kitchen.
Yes, in every apartment, along with a microwave and a coffee machine. The Superior One-Bedroom also has a dishwasher and a large fridge-freezer, which is what makes it the easiest choice for a longer stay.
Yes, fast Wi-Fi in every apartment, included. Some guests work from here — the roof terrace makes a decent office before the sun gets high.
Yes, in every apartment. In July and August you will want it.
Yes, even in August. We have seven 1,000-litre tanks in the cellar with a pressure pump: if the town supply is interrupted, the water here keeps running at the same pressure. Including the two hot showers on the terrace.
No lift, but there is a stairlift chair that runs on a rail along the staircase to the first floor, where apartments A, B and C are. The second floor — apartment D and the panoramic terrace — is reached on foot only. If stairs are a problem, message us before booking and we will tell you exactly what you can reach.
Yes — every bathroom is split in two: while one person showers behind a closed door, another uses the basin and mirror. With four or five of you, it saves your mornings.
The Family Apartment sleeps up to five. If you would rather the children could go to bed while you stay up, take the Superior One-Bedroom Apartment — the separate bedroom makes a real difference on a long stay, and it has the dishwasher and the big fridge.
The Studio with Private Terrace, without much hesitation. It is on its own floor, it has private outdoor space, and a gate opening straight onto the roof terrace.
One apartment also includes a large private terrace with outdoor dining area and sun loungers. The private terrace itself looks onto the internal side; it connects through a small gate directly to the shared panoramic sea-view roof terrace. So you get private outdoor space of your own plus direct access to the sea view — but the sea view is from the shared roof terrace, not from the private terrace itself.
All four face the courtyard rather than the road, so none of them get traffic noise. The second-floor studio is the most secluded, being alone on its level.
No — it is shared by everyone staying with us. It is large enough that it rarely feels busy, and it is where the sea view is rather than in the apartments. One apartment has an additional private internal terrace of its own.
From morning until late in the evening, at no extra cost. Loungers, sofas, umbrellas and hot outdoor showers for after the beach.
Please do — it is the best hour up there. Bring coffee up from your own kitchen and watch the fishing boats come back in.
Yes. There is a shared BBQ, and cooking up there as the sun drops is the thing guests write to us about afterwards. Let us know beforehand so we can make sure it is free.
It is the reason the place is called what it is. The terrace faces west over the Strait of Sicily, and in summer the light goes on for a long time after the sun has gone.
43 metres from the door: step out, cross the seafront and you are on the promenade. The beach in front is the city beach. If you want clear water and pale sand, we suggest Tonnarella, about 8 minutes by car.
Tonnarella: turquoise water, pale silver sand, eight minutes by car. It is where people have always gone and where we still go. We tell you where to park and which lido is worth it.
Yes. Besides Tonnarella, the Capo Feto nature reserve, Puzziteddu and Quattro Fontane are all worth the drive. The San Vito beach is 15 minutes on foot, but under the Sicilian sun a car or a bike is the better idea.
No, and it is worth knowing before you set off. Spiaggia di San Vito is our local beach, a couple of minutes away. San Vito Lo Capo is the famous one up near Trapani — beautiful, but about an hour by car and a day out rather than a morning swim.
For dinner: Altavilla Ristorante, Al Pesciolino d’Oro, Trattoria delle Cozze, La Bettola. These are places we eat ourselves, not an arrangement — and we will tell you which ones need booking, because in August several of them do.
Scialà Bar Stuzzicheria or Mascaarìa. Or buy a bottle and take it up to the roof terrace, which is what we would do.
Boutique del Pesce for fish, and the local bakery and greengrocer for everything around it — all within walking distance. There is a supermarket close by for the ordinary things, and Sushi Joy if you want a night off from cooking.
Walk the Kasbah, the Arab-Norman quarter that gives the town its character, and see the Dancing Satyr — a Greek bronze pulled out of the sea by local fishermen, and worth the visit on its own. Then the Lungomare Hopps at the end of the afternoon.
Yes. Ceramiche Hajto and NovaNova Lab both run ceramic workshops, and they are genuinely good — Sicilian ceramics with someone who knows what they are doing, rather than a tourist hour. We can put you in touch.
Kasbah in the morning, the Dancing Satyr Museum before lunch, fish for lunch, a swim at San Vito in the afternoon, then the roof terrace for sunset. That is Mazara at its best without rushing.
Day one in Mazara as above. Day two at Selinunte, the largest archaeological park in Europe, and it is rarely crowded. Day three at Marsala for the salt pans and a wine tasting, timed so you are at the saline as the light goes.
Add Trapani and Erice — take the cable car up, the town at the top is medieval and usually in cloud. Then a day to the Egadi Islands by ferry, Favignana if you only pick one. Keep a day for Tonnarella and doing nothing, because you will want it by then.
Yes — private parking at the property, €10 a day, on request. Tell us when you book and we will hold a space, which matters in August when parking in town gets difficult.
No — our apartments aren’t set up to host animals. If you’re travelling with one, just ask: we’ll gladly point you to friendly places nearby that are equipped to welcome them.
Not for Mazara itself: the beach, the historic centre, restaurants and shops are all walkable. For the rest of western Sicily — Selinunte, Marsala, Trapani, Erice — a car makes the difference between seeing them and reading about them.
Yes, through a local partner. The seafront and the centre are flat, and five minutes on a bike gets you to San Vito beach.
Yes — supermarket, pharmacies and cash machines are all in the centre, a few minutes on foot. Cards are accepted almost everywhere now, but the market is easier with cash.
Dial 112, the free emergency number across Italy, and then message us — we are local and we can usually help faster than you would expect, including finding a doctor who speaks English.
Very. A cot is free on request and we can provide a highchair. The roof terrace is safe and enclosed, and the beach across the road is shallow for a long way out.
May, June and September are our own favourites: the sea is warm, the light is long and the town is not full. July and August are hot and lively — good if that is what you want, and the terrace makes the afternoons bearable. Even in winter the days are often mild and bright.
