Tonnarella
Our first choice, above all with children. Sand, calm water and several beach clubs.

All of them do a quick lunch. Most close between the 10th and 15th of September: after that, the beach is just the beach.

Capo Feto
If you like being out in nature, Capo Feto is one to try.
The landscape here is nothing like the built-up beaches of Mazara: dunes, coastal scrub, and far more space around you. You leave the car in the access area and walk on to the beach.
The seabed is shallow and the water stays calm and low for a good stretch. Families with children like it for that, especially anyone who prefers a free, natural beach to a club.
What to bring
You need to arrive organised. Water, something to eat, a parasol and sun cream are essential. Do not count on the services of an equipped beach.
And above all: bring a bag for your rubbish and take it away with you. In a natural setting it goes without saying, but it is worth saying.
After one o’clock the landscape changes too
Capo Feto is not only a beach for lying in the sun.
When the wind comes up, usually after the morning, the spot becomes interesting for kitesurfing and wingfoiling. A kitesurf school operates in the area, running courses and rental at the Capo Feto spot.
If you are a beginner and would like to try, it is worth contacting the school before you go and checking the day’s conditions.
Remember you are in a natural area
Capo Feto matters for birds too: the wetland is used by many species, migratory ones included. In 2026 the Comune di Mazara published the documentation for the new Riserva Naturale Orientata covering the coastal strip of Capo Feto and Margi Spanò.
So it matters not to leave the marked paths, not to damage the dunes, and not to take plants or animals. The area’s technical documentation calls explicitly for the protection of the dunes and the wildlife.
And dogs?
As this is a protected natural area with specific rules, it is best to check what applies to that stretch of beach and to the period of your stay before bringing a dog.
About 10 minutes by car
Quarara
Quarara is unlike the easier sandy beaches of Mazara. Here you find rocks, water and small coves.
It can appeal a great deal to teenagers and adults, especially when you want something other than a standard day on the sand.
With small children
It would not be our first choice. The way in over the rocks and the shape of the coast need more care than Tonnarella.
The beach clubs around here
There are small spots along here with a younger crowd. At summer weekends the mood can get much livelier.

About 20 minutes by car
Puzziteddu: windsurf, kite and wingfoil
Puzziteddu is one of the beaches around here where the wind makes the difference.
When conditions are good you see windsurf, kitesurf and wingfoil out on the water. If you have never tried, there are schools and operators running lessons and rental.
If you are a beginner
You do not need your own kit or any experience. Book a lesson and let the instructors judge the conditions and the right equipment.
If you already sail
You can ask about equipment hire and the day’s conditions. Here the wind is part of the thing: always check before you set off.
Even if you do not sail
It is still worth coming to see Puzziteddu on a windy day. The feel of it is nothing like the quieter beaches of Mazara.

The city beach
Yellow sand, a short walk from the door. Handy for a quick swim without taking the car.
It is not among the busiest beaches with people from Mazara, but it is very convenient if you simply want to get to the sea.

Lungomare San Vito
A town beach: white sand, clear water. Free stretches and two clubs, Buxutu and Kikis, which close between the 10th and 15th of September. After that, the beach is just the beach.
This is Mazara’s own San Vito, not San Vito Lo Capo. Free parking.

Tre Fontane
A long sandy beach, good for a day at the sea and for seeing a different stretch of coast.
The city beach
Yellow sand, a short walk from the door. Handy for a quick swim without taking the car. Not the finest stretch of coast around Mazara, and not the busiest either — which on an August afternoon is part of the appeal.
Spiaggia di San Vito
The nearest proper beach, soft sand and clear water. Walkable, but under the Sicilian sun a bike or the car is the wiser idea. (This is Mazara’s own San Vito, not San Vito Lo Capo, which is a full day trip.)
Tonnarella
Turquoise water and pale silver sand — the one everyone in Mazara grew up on, and where we still go. A wide sandy stretch that suits families, and breezy enough for a bit of kitesurfing. We tell you where to park and which lido is worth it.
Capo Feto
A WWF reserve with dunes and shallow, warm water. Wilder and quieter than the lidos — for a beach that feels like nature rather than sunbeds.
Puzziteddu (Pozzitello)
A quieter, more natural stretch of coast a little further out, for when you want space and few people around.
Quattro Fontane
A long sandy beach that works well for families, with room to spread out.
